Radiesse is an injectable dermal filler that restores volume and improves the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Radiesse can soften even the most difficult lines and creases, like nasolabial folds and marionette lines, and can also be used to improve the appearance of the hands. Radiesse is safe and effective. And, this FDA-approved, semi-permanent anti-aging solution lasts up to 18 months! This unique injectable can help you achieve effective wrinkle reduction where it matters most. Enjoy natural-looking, fresh-faced, smooth results that last!
As the years pass, we gradually lose stores of collagen and elastin, key structural proteins for the maintenance of skin elasticity. We also produce less of the hyaluronic acid that keeps our skin dewy and supports a healthy dermis. As a result, wrinkles appear, and lines and creasing set in. But there’s no need to let them! Although we can’t stop time, we can lessen its effects.
Dr. Michael J. Yoo helps patients maintain ageless beauty so that they keep looking as vivacious as they feel. About Radiesse
Like other dermal fillers, Radiesse works in the deep layers of the skin to elevate recessed areas, “filling in” lines and areas that have lost volume. However, Radiesse has a unique formula that sets it apart from other dermal fillers and gives it the ability to tackle even the most pronounced lines and creases. Simply put, Radiesse works differently. Dermal fillers like Juvederm use hyaluronic acid as their active ingredient. This indispensable molecule binds to the water molecules present in the skin, creating the lush, dewy volume that so many patients love. And over time, it is naturally reabsorbed by the body.
Radiesse contains calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in a smooth gel. These minuscule microspheres are made of biocompatible calcium and are completely invisible to the naked eye. Once they arrive in the dermis, they stimulate the production of new, healthy collagen in the treated area. Patients enjoy an immediate improvement from the gel, and results that gradually improve as the new stores of collagen fill out the area of concern. As a result, Radiesse can handle deep wrinkles and furrows around the mouth, along the jawline, and even rejuvenate aging hands.
Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA)
Calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) is a synthetic version of the naturally occurring mineral compound found in bones. Radiesse contains synthetic CaHA microspheres that are suspended in an aqueous gel. The solution also contains small amounts of lidocaine to minimize discomfort during treatment. (1) CaHA is biocompatible and provides structural support to facial soft tissues by promoting neocollagenesis: the production of naturally-occurring collagen. Radiesse is thicker than hyaluronic dermal fillers. This enhanced viscosity, along with its collagen-boosting abilities, makes it an ideal filler for moderate and severe lines and wrinkles. And because the body has produced its own store of new, healthy collagen, results last between 12 and 18 months for most patients. (2) Additionally, Radiesse can be used to rejuvenate crepey, aged hands, an often overlooked but prominent sign of aging.

Candidates
Healthy individuals 21 and older seeking a solution for volume loss and lines around the nose and mouth are typically good candidates for Radiesse. The majority of our patients are 30 years or older, yet genetics and lifestyle can lead to premature aging. So, individuals in their 20s can still take advantage of the anti-aging benefits of Radiesse. If you are currently experiencing deep facial lines or wrinkles, you may see significant benefits from Radiesse. Individuals experiencing the following will not qualify for Radiesse:
- A history of severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis
- Patients allergic to lidocaine
- Bleeding disorders
- Infection or active outbreak in the treatment area

Preparation
Anti-aging treatment with Radiesse does not require as much preparation! Nevertheless, following these instructions will ensure that you have an optimal experience.
- Prior to treatment, discuss any medications you currently take
- Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements such as aspirin, ibuprofen, St. John’s wort, and ginkgo biloba, as well as alcohol, as they can increase bleeding after injection
- Ensure that you have fully healed from any chemical peels and laser treatments, and avoid using harsh skin products to prevent unnecessary irritation
Procedure
The procedure will take between 15 and 40 minutes. You may receive local or topical anesthesia as needed. Dr. Yoo will cleanse your skin and mark the areas for treatment. He will then inject the Radiesse using an ultra-fine needle. After injection, the area is then massaged to distribute the filler evenly. Then, you’ll be able to jump back into your day!
Recovery
Any bruising and swelling at the injection site usually resolves within a few days. To reduce swelling, we recommend taking arnica and using ice packs on the treated areas. You may resume strenuous activities and exercise one to two days after treatment. To minimize the risk of infection, avoid using cosmetics or other skin care products at the injection sites, and touching your face.
Results
Like many dermal fillers, Radiesse offers fast, same-day results. Many of our patients observe a noticeable difference within hours of the procedure! The firm, viscous nature of the Radiesse dermal filler allows for effective treatment of deep lines and wrinkles, and results will gradually improve as the body ramps up its production of collagen in the treated areas. Within a few months, the CaHA will have been absorbed by the body and replaced with new, healthy stores of collagen. (2) After that, the results are yours to keep! Results last between 12 and 18 months. A study of over 600 patients treated with Radiesse found that 89% of them would opt for the treatment again. And because Radiesse is safely absorbed by the body, you can too! Additional injections can be performed to maintain your beautiful results.
How Much Does Radiesse Cost in Beverly Hills?
Because Radiesse has long-lasting results, it’s one of the most cost-effective dermal filler options available. That means fewer touch-ups and office visits, which saves patients time and money. The cost of your Radiesse injections will depend on the areas that you wish to treat and the amount of the cosmetic that is used to achieve your desired results. FAQ
What’s the difference between Radiesse and Juvederm?
Radiesse contains microspheres of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) which stimulate the production of collagen in the dermis where injected. Juvederm, on the other hand, is a hyaluronic acid gel that is eventually reabsorbed by the body. The effects of Radiesse can last over a year, while Juvederm typically only lasts about 6 months.
